Optics, an Observatory, and a Pyramid: Science at Mount Hope Cemetery!

Join Friends of Mount Hope Cemetery historians in celebration of the Total Solar Eclipse, as we travel through time and visit the final resting places of some of Rochester’s most prolific scientists and inventors, and other colorful characters. Learn about Rochester’s Observatory, the fourth largest in USA at the time, and astronomical discoveries made here, as well as the origins of the Strasenburgh Planetarium. These tours are appropriate for all ages and are FREE!! While at Mount Hope, stop by the gravesites of Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass, where historians will be stationed to tell their stories. Approximately 75 minutes walking on paved roads and flat ground. Meet at south entrance on Mt Hope Ave, across from The Distillery Restaurant.
